Bioplastics is a term used for biobased plastic and biodegradable plastic.
Biobased plastic is derived from renewable resources, such as sugar, starch, vegetable oil, cellulose among others. The most common raw materials used is corn, sugar cane, grain and wood.
Biodegradable plastic will go through a process known as anaerobic digestion which occurs when it is left in soil, sand, conditions of compost, water-based culture medium, or microorganisms from nature are allowed to break it down.
The by-products of a fully composted biodegradable bag are carbon dioxide, water, and elements containing mineralized salt.
